In conjunction with World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day 2026, we are pleased to announce that registration is now open for a webinar dedicated to the impact of the conflict in Sudan on vector-borne diseases and on neglected tropical diseases, and to ways forward to address the burden of these conditions amidst a complex emergency.
The webinar will bring together leading Sudanese and global experts, researchers, and public health professionals, including Dr Sara Azhari Hassan and Dr Hamoda Toto (Federal Ministry of Health, Sudan), Professor Ahmed Fahal (University of Khartoum Mycetoma Research Centre, WHO Collaborating Centre on Mycetoma and Skin Neglected Tropical Diseases), Professor Maowia M. Mukhtar (Bioscience Research Institute, Sudan), Dr Rasha Siddig Azrag (University of Khartoum, Sudan and State University of New York at Buffalo, United States of America) and Professor Heather Ferguson (University of Glasgow, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Chair, WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Neglected Tropical Diseases (STAG-NTD)).
The webinar is organized by the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
